Coronado Dog Beach is on the upscale island of Coronado connected to San Diego by a spectacular bridge.  It is located at the northern end of the beach next to the Naval Air Station on Ocean Blvd.  It is wide and sandy with gentle waves.  There is always ample free parking either near the beach or on close-by side streets.  There is a hose and shower to wash your sandy pup off after a day of frolicking in the surf.  The dogs here tend to be well behaved, but it is not advised to bring food to the beach – they are still dogs after all! Located at the northernmost end of Coronado beach: Ocean Blvd. near Sunset Park.

Fiesta Island in Mission Bay is almost completely leash free and there are sandy dunes to run around as well as a fenced in dog beach with calm waters.  Parking is free and plentiful.

Ocean Beach Dog Beach, located in northern “OB”, has an estuary for canine exploration as well as a beach perfect for doggie surfing. The dogs here can be more aggressive, so keep an eye on your pup. Familiarize yourself with Ocean Beach Dog Beach information and etiquette.

Del Mar Dog Beach is in “north county” San Diego in the seaside town of Del Mar and is only off-leash designated from September to June.  Parking is available, but you will need to pay and keep an eye on the meter.
